We’ve got something to celebrate this month and want to herald a very special Steele-Dixon team member who has continuously proven herself an invaluable part of the business. Many moons ago, well 23 years to be exact, Allison Garfield stepped into the S-D offices for the first time (photo shows Allison ((far right)) with the team at that time). This was her first position since having children and she joined us as a part time PA to Roger Wain-Heapy and Clive Timms working in Executive Search and Recruitment. It was immediately obvious she was going to be a great asset; she quickly showed aptitude in dealing with clients and candidates due to her professionalism and personable nature. Within a few years she started working with Martin Steele on overseas work and took on her own work as a consultant. She was focused, tenacious, ambitious and very driven to succeed and it wasn’t long before she was making a big impression with overseas clients.
When Martin retired in 2014 Allison took sole responsibility for all Steele-Dixon’s international recruitment. Allison is such a loyal and supportive part of S-D and that’s why we want to applaud her success, she has all the qualities needed to be a great recruiter. She’s also a wonderful employee who we consider very much a part of the family and a great friend. We asked some of her clients why they enjoy working with her and here is what they said…
“I have known Allison for over 20 years, firstly as a candidate relocating in the U.K. where she sourced me a DP position in the late 1990’s. She then found me a great overseas opportunity in 2002 in Dubai and because of her application and professionalism she then supplied our company with numerous quality staff, and this is still ongoing today. I now operate a dealership with multi-brands and a rental operation in the Caribbean and Allison has again supported me by sourcing quality personnel and has supplied me with most of my staff for both business’s during a 4 year build out plan. I always turn to Allison and she always delivers timely, professionally and with great enthusiasm. I also see her as a friend.” Nigel Kellow, General Manager, Trac Automotive
“Allison is always super-efficient, she responds to your queries within hours and is always very exacting in finding out all the details on the requirement, the package, the environment, conditions, market and the type of person we are looking for. With this we get people who we know meet the criteria and who are well briefed on the situation. Allison sets up interviews, follow ups and site visits so we get to know the person and they get to know the operation and environment that they will work in. Once we select a candidate for the role she assists in getting the new employee on site as soon as possible. Once on site the candidate and ourselves get frequent calls to see that things are working and to ensure that there are no problems. When you deal with Allison you are dealing with a professional who goes more than the extra mile and is always very friendly and a pleasure to work with. She makes sure both the candidate and the employee are satisfied. I won’t use any other agent. Best wishes to Allison on this huge achievement. It mirrors her devotion to her clients.” Brian Stevenson, General Manager, DAL Motors
Allison is one of the most, if not the most, experienced overseas recruiters in the automotive industry. She thrives on forging strong and long lasting relationships with her clients and candidates and never gives up. She’ll happily travel to some far flung places to meet people – especially when it can be combined with a bit of time in the sunshine – the only other place she’s as happy as in the office!! She’s been crowned ‘Consultant of the Year’ on many occasions; we’re a competitive lot so that’s some achievement.
Allison’s isn’t quite our longest lasting employee – just a few more years and she’ll don that crown too. We really hope she does and that she continues to do such an excellent and appreciated job. Thank you Allison – keep up the good work!
If you don’t already work with or know Allison, you’re missing out and she’d love to hear from you. There’s no doubt in our minds that she’ll succeed where others have not.
